京都のお雛様は
男雛と女雛の並びが 少し違います

向かって右に男雛
それは 京都が今も
「古来のかたち」を大切にしているから

かつての日本では
向かって右(=左方)が上位とされ
天皇陛下もその位置に座されました

明治以降 西洋の礼法が取り入れられ
向かって左に男雛を置く並びが
全国に広まりました

同じお雛様でも
並びに宿る歴史の記憶。。。

色々と奥深いものですね😊

In Kyoto, the placement of the Hina dolls is slightly different.

The Emperor doll is placed on the viewer’s right.
This reflects Kyoto’s devotion to preserving the ancient Japanese tradition.

In old Japan, the left side (which appears on the viewer’s right) was considered the position of higher status.
The Emperor would always sit in this place of honor.

After the Meiji era, Western customs were adopted,
and placing the Emperor doll on the viewer’s left became the standard throughout Japan.

Even with the same pair of dolls,
their arrangement carries a quiet memory of history.

Within these small forms,
time and tradition continue to breathe softly.

There is always something deeply layered within what seems simple.
