陶磁器 × 竹工芸
「Spiral」
蘇嶐窯と、竹工房喜節・細川さんとのコラボレーション作品です
中央の磁器プレートにはあえて穴を開けず
竹で前後から挟み込むようにして
外側の穴に向かって編み上げる
磁器に施された「飛鉋（とびかんな）」が螺旋状に広がっていくイメージを、細川さんが見事な竹の編みで表現してくださいました
この挑戦をはじまりに、次の新しいコラボレーションに向けて、まずはその世界を深く知ることから始めようと、細川さんの竹細工教室に通い始めました
同じ「工芸」という道ですが、手にする素材も、道具も、身体の使い方も、驚くほどに違い、その差異のひとつひとつが、新鮮で面白いのです
この教室の魅力は単に「編む」ことだけではありません
丸竹を鋸で引き、割り、皮を剥いで、材料をゼロから作るところから始まります
思うようにいかない悔しさについ身体が強張り、終わる頃には手が痺れて小さな切り傷が絶えません
ですが、その痛みさえも心地よい疲労感と達成感に変わっていきます
竹の性質を肌で感じるこの時間が、新しい作品への大切な糧となるように、少しずつ視野を広げていきたいと思います
Ceramics × Bamboo Craft
“Spiral”
A collaborative work by
Soryu-gama and bamboo artist Hosokawa of Kisetsu Bamboo Studio.
The porcelain plate at the center is intentionally left without holes.
Instead, bamboo elements gently hold it from both sides,
woven outward toward the openings along the rim.
The spiral rhythm of the tobikanna technique carved into the porcelain
is beautifully translated into three-dimensional form
through Hosokawa’s masterful bamboo weaving.
To deepen and strengthen this collaboration,
we decided to first immerse ourselves in the world of bamboo.
This led me to begin attending Hosokawa’s bamboo craft classes.
Although we share the same path of “craft,”
the materials, tools, and even the way the body moves
are strikingly different.
Each difference feels fresh and deeply inspiring.
Feeling the nature of bamboo through the hands—
we hope this time will become
a vital nourishment for future works.
